Week 20

February 3-09, 2014

How far along:  20 weeks, Half way to 40!
Total weight gain: At my doctor’s appointment I gained 5 lbs, so that is 9 lbs total (and my weight is a number that I have never seen before).  The midwife was happy with the weight gain and said just keep up what I am doing.
Maternity clothes: A mixture.  In the picture I am wearing all non-maternity clothing.  As usual leggings is my pants of choice with a longer top (regular or maternity).
Stretch marks: I think I spotted a small spider vein, which is common and should fade away after birth.  I am keeping my ritual of coconut oil and Mama Belly Butter (I feel like I could be cooked when I have all of my oil and lotion on).
Sleep: Pretty good.  Only a couple of nights a week I wake up to use the bathroom, and one night I am up for an hour or so unable to fall back to sleep.  Every night I so excited to sleep with the Snoogle and so grateful Erin is letting me use this pillow.
Best moments this week: Hearing the baby’s heart beat and feeling the little baby kicks.
Miss anything: I had a sip of cherry soda and boy did I wish I could have had more.
Food cravings: I realize I have stepped back from my celery and carrot binge.  I am not craving any specific food but I am more hungry than usual.  I was so surprised this past weekend when we went to the Creperie and I ate all of my savory and sweet crepes.
Anything making you queasy: Luckily nothing.
Gender: We will find out Thursday February 13!  Will is so excited to find out the gender our little baby.  Before we have our appointment I want to try a few of the old wives tales of gender prediction.
Labor signs: Braxton Hicks! During week 18 we were able to feel hardening of my lower tummy and just thought it was the baby.  They happen throughout the day and are slightly uncomfortable.  Luckily this tightening happened during my doctor appointment and the midwife was able to confirm contractions- Braxton Hicks.
Belly button in or out: I feel like instead of my belly button stick out or in it is just getting stretched with the growing of my tummy.
Wedding rings on or off: On.
Happy or moody: For the most part happy but my poor students, my patience seems to be much lower than usual.  I understand why pregnant women seem to have their hands on their tummies- I just love to feel little baby kicks and just feel closer to our baby.
Looking forward to: Our big ultrasound next week to find out if our baby is a boy or girl!
